Divisions:

Men and Women’s “A” King & Queen of the Lanes

Open to all bowlers with no average requirements.  This event shall be bowled scratch.  Women participants in this division will be awarded handicap of eight (8) pins per game.

Men and Women’s “B” Prince of the Lanes

This division is open to bowlers with a 180 average and below for men as of December 31, 2022.  Division classification shall be based on the highest current Guam Bowling Congress book average with 21 games or more.  This event shall include a handicap system based on the following formula:  75% of 190 average.  Women in this division shall be awarded eight (8) pins of handicap per game.

Entering average for returnees shall be based on their ending average from the King and Prince of the Lanes 2022.  Bowlers who participated in both divisions shall use the total combined pinfall to determine their average.

Handicap shall be based on the higher average between the GBC book and King of the Lanes 2022 total.

*New Bowler’s average shall be updated after every tournament and will be used to calculate average for the following month provided their average does not decrease from the entering average.

*Averages will be recalculated after 24 games for all bowlers entering with a 2022 King and Prince of the Lanes average.  Thereafter averages will change on a monthly basis provide their average does not decrease from the entering average.

Handicap for the Grand Finals shall be based on the higher average between the GBC book and Prince of the Lanes 2023.

*Bowlers in the Prince division who move up to the King division during the year 2023 will not be allowed to compete in the prince division.  Bowlers establishing in the King division will remain in the division throughout the year.

Defending champions in the Prince of the Lanes will not be allowed to compete in this division if their entering average (GBC book or ending King and Prince of the Lanes) exceeds 180.  Average for the year end finals of the defending champion shall be the higher average of the 2023 GBC book average, King of the Lanes 2022 or highest league average.

Tournament Management reserves the right to reclassify bowlers who have not competed in the King and Prince of the Lanes event.

Tie Breaking procedures:

Ties in any position will be broken by a one ball roll off and shall continue by alternating lanes until the tie has been broken.  If a tie exists on the first ball, the bowlers shall spare the frame.

Ties in the Grand Finals will be broken by a one ball roll off.  The lane condition shall be determined by a coin toss.  Heads shall be the longer pattern of which the bowler with the higher scratch average shall bowl first and tails shall be the shorter pattern which the bowler with the lower scratch average shall bowl first.

Forfeit procedure:

Forfeit of position from any top seed player (1st and 2nd) in the semi-final round shall grant opposing player an automatic win. Forfeiting player shall be awarded 4th place.  If forfeit of position is 3rd place and below, each lower position shall ascend until 10th place is filled.
