Jesse Flickinger and Elijah Duenas captured their first titles of the Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes monthly tournament to etch their slots in the year-end Grand Finals.
Fifth seed Flickinger beat 4th seed Corey Granillo in the quarter-final match, then marched past 2nd seed Aaron Elliott to secure his spot in the monthly finals. He matched up well against top seed Jeremiah Camacho who beat out Von Cabral in the semi-final match for the engagement. Flickinger opened the final match with a double as Camacho struggled missing two pin seven leaves. Flickinger matched Camacho throughout the remainder of the set, eventually securing the title with a 194-180 score.
In the Prince division, Duenas posted convincing wins over his opponents as he beat 9th seed Gomes Martinez in the semi-final match 203-186 and then pounded on top seed Bill Roberto 192-149 to earn his first title. Roberto edged Isiah Macias in the semi-final round 172-168 to set up the final match.
The next Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
