Sunday, October 15, 2023 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

It took an extra frame roll-off to determine the Budweiser King of the Lanes champion for the month of October. The match between Brian Manibusan and Jeremiah Camacho went down to the wire after an exciting finish, as they ended with identical scores of 194. In the extra frame, Manibusan’s shot fell short of the head pin with a six-count which meant breathing room for Camacho. Camacho’s execution of his extra ball went up high on the head pin, but enough pins fell to claim his third title of the year by a stick.
In the semi-final action, 6th seed Manibusan eked out Jay Leon Guerrero, as the top seed was unable to carry the pin ten, as he did during the qualifying rounds. Camacho also crawled out of a close contest with 3rd seed Bruce Calip to set up the monthly finale.
Leon Guerrero led the qualifying field by 79 pins over his closest rival Camacho averaging 221 pins per game. Calip was a distant third followed by RJ Santos, Aaron Elliott, Manibusan, Charlie Catbagan, Jesse Eyoel, Maria Wood, and Corey Granillo who rounded off the top ten.

Sheila Bangs found her groove in the Budweiser Prince of the Lanes 2023 elimination rounds steadily eliminating every opponent in sight. In the first elimination round the third seed negated 9th seed Nick Gutierrez by 95 pins, then ousted 4th seed Gomes Martinez in the quarter-final round by 38 pins. In the semi-final round, Bangs beat 2nd seed Shannon Bukikosa-Esplana by 49 pins and in the final match, she crushed the top seed Zayne Zamora’s hope of winning a monthly tournament by 83 pins. Zamora eliminated Sabrina Fletcher in the semi-final round escaping a close contest by eight pins on the short oil pattern.
Zamora claimed pole position after the four-game qualifier held earlier in the day by 24 pins over Bukikosa-Esplana. Bangs finished in third followed by Gomes Martinez, Eyan Duenas, Virgil Toledo, Arlene Reyes, Matthew Santos, Nick Gutierrez, Enrique Corcino, and Sabrina Fletcher, who qualified for the elimination rounds.
Both Camacho and Bangs take over the Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes leaderboard in their respective divisions. With one month remaining in the year-long schedule, bowlers will be jockeying for the final slots to qualify for the year-end Grand finals in December.
