Cougars, Friars cruise through week 2

Cougars, Knights, and Eagles pick up second-week wins

Monday, November 7, 2023 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

The Cougars, Knights, and Eagles kept their win records intact after the second week of the IIAAG High School Bowling Girls competition at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.

The Cougars romped through the tri-school meet taking the top four spots against the Stars and Warriors.  Eriana Ada who posted the high two-game set of the meet, led the pack followed by Atissa Rabon, Frencin Cabuhat, and Minellie Dacanay.  The Warriors finished in second led by Xerya Anderson while Ella Cruz posted top honors for the Stars.

The Eagles slipped past the Angels on the heels of a one-two finish by Paulina Yoon and Denise Garcia, while Jasmin Lee led the Stars team. 

The Knights also kept their undefeated record with a win over the Islanders.  Islanders Kamilah Leones led the group as the Knights finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th with Ava Ouhadi, Knessa Davis, and Skye Concepcion to upend the Islanders.

Friars sweep in tri-school meet

The Friars swept through the tri-school meet against the Warriors and Stars during week two of the High School Boys competition.  Freshman Riel Brantly led the field establishing a personal best and in the process, a league-best set at 350 pins.  Xavier Calvo, Aron Hernandez, and Kyle Lindsey closed out the sweep by the Friars finishing 2nd to 4th place respectively and for good measure, Benj Encarnacion and Mark Bersamin took 5th and 6th place before Warrior’s Kurt Macatangay squeezed into the 7th post.  Jusiah Carlos of the Stars came in 15th place.

JFK Islanders also kept their undefeated season alive beating the SJS Knights.  Micaiah Benton led the Islander charge followed by Brandon Benavente before the field exchanged posts with the Knights Elijah Dewan in 3rd, Islander;’ Ryusei Santos in 4th, Knights Jun Lee in 5th, Islander’s Jesse Rechulk, Knight’s AJ Morales and Islander Nathan Parel completing the top 8.

HCA Eagles earned their first win of the young season led by Ye-Jun Yeo, Alex Shelden, and Parker Ashland ahead of GAA Angel’s Anthony Lee.  Koren Espia rounded off the top four bowlers for the Eagles to secure the victory.

The competition continues with the girls’ division on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
