The AOLG Cougars edged the HCA Eagles in the final week of the IIAAG High School Bowling League girls’ regular season as SJS Knights kept the last tri-school competition close. Eriana Ada led all bowlers with a 354 two-game set. The Eagles Denise Garcia and Paulina Yoon took 2nd and 3rd post which gave them a lead in the rankings. To further complicate the counting process, the Knights Skye Concepcion and Ava Ouhadi placed 4th and 5th as Cougars Alexa Leon Guerrero came in 6th. With two bowlers from each school in the top six, the Eagles looked poised to grab a share of the crown leading by 2 points over the Cougars. The Cougars’ Frencine Cabuhat edged Eagle’s Rebecca Xu to pull within one point as they finished 7th and 8th respectively. Atissa Rabon closed out the top four bowlers for the Cougars as she landed in the 9th spot with teammate Minellie Dacanay in 10th place to edge the Eagle’s by two points as Kate Pedrajas finished in 11th place.
In another close contest, the GAA Angels took a 16-20 win over the GACS Stars. Star’s Juanie Cruz led the field, but Stars Ellin Losongco, Jasmine Lee, and Aly Taimanglo took the next three spots to help their team win their second match of the season.
SPCS Warriors also picked up their second win of the season over the JFK Islanders. Islander’s Juliana Lagman topped the field, but the Warriors took the next four positions to seal the match.
The All-Island finals is set for Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center and will feature the top four bowlers from each school plus the top four bowlers from the qualifying round which will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023.
