New officers elected to lead Guam Bowling

Saturday, April 27, 2024 – TAMUNING, GUAM

The Guam Bowling Congress hosted the 2024 Annual General Meeting at the Century Plaza on Saturday, April 27, 2024.  All recognized leagues and organizations were present.  The members elected its Board members and Executive Committee to serve the quadrennial term until 2028.

On celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Guam Bowling Congress, established on April 25, 1984, Joey Miranda III succeeds founding member Gordon T. C. Chu as president, and in turn unanimously approved the elevation of the outgoing president as the Honorary Life President.  Gene Bangayan will serve as Vice President, Jay Leon Guerrero as Secretary-General and Treasurer Frank Russo.  The board members include Maria Wood, Shannon Bukikosa-Esplana, Brian Manibusan, and Ray Manibusan.

With Miranda’s ascension to the presidency, he serves concurrently as the president of the Oceania Bowling Federation where he was elected to the post during the OBF General Assembly in October 2023.  Through his elected post with the OBF, Miranda serves as an Executive Committee member of the International Bowling Federation.

The Athletes Commission will be elected on a date organized by the Governance committee.

All Chairpersons will work closely with the Executive members to formulate their committee goals and strategic plan.

During the AGM several amendments to the By-Laws were adopted by the body.  The amendments were made to adhere to the regulations of the International Olympic Committee Agenda 2020+5 recommendations, the Guam National Olympic Committee, and the International Bowling Federation.
