The SIFA Charter School Manta Rays boys’ team and the St. Anthony Catholic School Raiders girls’ team clinched the regular season titles during the final position round of the inaugural IIAAG Middle School Bowling League.

In the boy’s division, the Manta Rays kept their perfect record overcoming a strong showing by Tydus Baker of the Raiders who bowled the highest game, 216, and set, 358, of the season. Raitano West also bowled a 207 game on the same pair of lanes to lead the Manta Ray’s counter of the Raider’s 1-3 finish. Billy Rey Donor, Ryujuan Cevera, and Ayden Buetipo finished in order of 4th to 6th to pace the winning team with a total combined 17 points and edged the Raiders by four points. Eyan Duenas took 3rd place in the contest. West will lead the All-Island meet as the top male athlete averaging 159 pins per game followed by Baker, 149, and Donor, 146.

The girls’ division also produced an exciting finish to the regular season, as the Lady Raiders narrowly edged the Lady Knights in a hotly contested matchup. The Knights beat the Raiders the previous week to knot the standings with identical 2-1 records. Knights Olivia Lee edged Raiders Summer Pinaula by two sticks for the top post as teammate Chloe Laxamana came in third place. However, the Raiders closed out their top four bowlers with a 4,5,6 finish to the Knight’s 7 and 8, for a two-point win. Isabella Galsim, Gabriella Edwards, and Ava Quinata aided the Raiders roster to slip past Aeva Sablan and Eunyul Shin for the season-ending top spot.
In the battle for third place, SIFA Charter School Lady Manta Rays knocked off the Guahan Academy Charter School Stars 13.5-23. Manta Ray’s Aubreale Charfauros edged teammate Aha’ani Sablan by three pins for the top post while Stars’ Rionca Lizama finished third.
Sablan ends the season with the highest average in the girls division followed by Charfauros and Pinaula heading into the All Island meet.
The month-long season will conclude this Saturday, May 11, 2024, with the All-Island Championship at the Central Lanes Bowling Center at 12:00 noon.
