Excitement was in the air at the Central Lanes Bowling Center as Guam’s middle school bowlers took to the lanes to stake their claim on the IIAAG Middle School All-Island titles.

The SIFA Charter School Manta Rays’ all-around solid performance catapulted the boys’ team to the inaugural boys’ title. Raitano led all male athletes with a 518 set over three games to edge early leader Eyan Duenas of the St. Anthony School Raiders by thirteen sticks. However, the Manta Rays grabbed the next three positions to close out their four best finishes with Billy Rey Donor, Ryujan Cevera, and Malachi O’Brien for a whopping 13 points.
The Raider finished the team event in second with Lyo Sawada in 8th, Jayden Matanane in 19th, and Tydus Baker in 22nd. Guahan Academy Charter School Stars earned third place, seven points adrift of the Raiders with Leonides Toves in 9th, Tano Mata 14th, William Salas 15th, and Malakai Fritz in 20th place.

In a hotly contested girls division, one point separated first through third place. Co-Champions were declared with St. Johns School Knights and the Lady Raiders. Each team finished the event posting an identical 29 points based on the final standing. The Lady Manta Rays finished third by one point. Olivia Lee led the Knights finishing the event in 2nd place while teammates Aeva Sablan, Chloe Laxamana, and Kira Johansen occupied the 8th through 10th places. The Lady Raiders took 5th through 7th place and 11th place with Isabella Galsim leading the charge followed by Summer Pinaula, Julia Perez, and Gabriella Edwards. The Lady Manta Rays’ Aubreale Charfauros took pole position after a tiebreaker with Lee. Aha’ani Sablan finished in 3rd with Akali Takano in 12th and Eliya Park in 14th.
Duenas, Sablan crowned All Island Champions
Eyan Duenas representing the Raiders and Manta Rays’ Aha’ani Sablan was crowned the individual All Island Champions after winning the stepladder elimination matches. Duenas entered the boys’ finals edging 3rd seed Donor in the first match 148-140. Thereafter, he bowled his best game of the season to beat top-seed West in the finals with a 193-168 victory.

Sablan also climbed the ladder edging Knight’s Lee in an extended tiebreaker after they finished the semi-final match with a draw. In the title match, Sablan defeated fellow Manta Ray and top seed Charfauros by a mark.

The boys’ top ten includes top seed West, Duenas, Donor, Cevera, O’Brien, Kim, Buentipo, Sawada, Toves, and de Vera. The girls’ top ten were led by Charfauros, followed by Lee, Sablan, Lizama Galsim, Pinaula, Perez, Sablan, Laxamana, and Johansen.
