July 2024 Budweiser King of the Lanes Terrance Alford Jr.

Terrence Alford Jr. clinched his inaugural Budweiser King of the Lanes monthly title during his debut tournament in Guam. In a thrilling showdown, he narrowly outpaced top seed Noah Taimanglo in the championship round. Alford surged ahead early with a turkey (three consecutive strikes) in the middle of the match, while Taimanglo faced challenges after errant shots in the 4th and 5th frames, costing him 30 pins. Despite Alford’s second-half struggles, Taimanglo’s valiant efforts fell just short, and Alford secured victory by a mere 4 pins.

In their quest for the final showdown, Taimanglo and second seed Alford both triumphed over their semifinal rivals. Taimanglo swiftly dispatched 6th seed Cesar Villanueva, while Alford ousted third seed Cisco Uncangco

In the qualifying rounds on the challenging 47-foot lane pattern, Taimanglo took the lead with an impressive 809 four-game set. Alford closely followed, trailing by 18 pins, while Uncangco secured third place just six pins behind. Notably, Ricky Duenas, Erwin Aguilar, Cesar Villanueva, Juan Blas, Sean Lee, Corey Granillo, and Mike Sanchez all secured spots in the elimination round by finishing in the top ten of the Budweiser King of the Lanes division.  With the title, Alford qualifies for the year-end Grand finals.

Riel Brantley secured his inaugural Prince of the Lanes title by outplaying ninth seed Dylan Taimanglo. Initially, Taimanglo surged ahead with a double in the 4th and 5th frames. However, Brantley mounted a comeback, scoring a Turkey (three consecutive strikes) from the 5th to 7th frames, allowing him to take a slight lead after 7 frames. Both bowlers split on the 8th frame, but Brantley rallied in the final two frames, ultimately leaping ahead of Taimanglo and clinching his well-deserved first title.

In the semifinal round, top seed Brantley skillfully leveraged his handicap advantage, narrowly defeating 6th seed Ken Gicos by just 7 pins. Meanwhile, Taimanglo secured his spot in the final match by eliminating second seed Leody Ersando.

Dylan’s journey to the semifinals involved two additional games. He triumphed over eighth seed Zaldy Ponce in the quarterfinals and third seed Jevin Espiritu in the first round.

During the earlier qualifying rounds, Brantley dominated the field. Ersando closely followed suit, with Espiritu securing third place. Eyan Duenas, Kevin Fejeran, Gicos, Ponce, Taimanglo, and Henry Abasta finished in the top ten, earning their spots in the elimination rounds.
