Camacho’s streak continues, Santos earns Prince title

Sunday, October 20, 2024 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

Back to Back Champion Jeremiah Camacho.

Jeremiah Camacho continued his winning streak by securing his first consecutive Budweiser King of the Lanes title. Following back-to-back U22 wins, the southpaw has been unstoppable since August.  Despite a slow start in his October King defense, Camacho gradually climbed to the top position in the qualifying rounds with scores of 237, 236, and 245 on the long 44’ pattern ending the day with a 222 average, 12 pins ahead of second seed Evan Duenas.

Camacho and Duenas utilized their first two round byes to advance and then triumphed over their semi-final opponents to reach the monthly finale. Camacho delivered an impressive 11 strikes to score a 276 game, defeating 5th seed Noah Taimanglo’s 221 game Meanwhile, Duenas racked up 10 strikes, winning 258-191 against 9th seed Juan Blas.

In the finals, both Camacho and Duenas couldn’t replicate their striking performances from the previous game and instead showcased their sparking skills. A seven-count split by Camacho gave Duenas a slight lead after six frames.  However, Camacho was undeterred by the split, rallying back with a turkey to erase the deficit and take a narrow lead.  Heading into the final stages with an eight-pin advantage, Camacho smashed the pocket but left pin seven standing, giving Duenas a chance to clinch the match.  Needing two strikes in the tenth, Duenas’ first ball hit the pocket but left a pin ten standing, conceding the match and title to Camacho with a final score of 197-182.

October Prince champion Chris Santos.

Camacho and Duenas secured the top two spots in the qualifying round, followed by Corey Granillo in third.  The top ten qualifiers for the elimination rounds also included Jay Leon Guerrero, Noah Taimanglo, Maria Wood, Cisco Uncangco, Matthew Cruz, Juan Blas, and Daniel Lee.

In the monthly finals of the Prince of the Lanes division, it was a Chris versus Cris showdown that crowned a first-time winner for the 2024 edition.  Chris Santos hit his stride, stringing together a four-bagger mid-game and finishing strong with a turkey scoring a 200-scratch game.  Cris Leal settled for second place with a 176 game, only missing a pin ten in the fifth frame for a near clean set.  Overcoming a first frame setback, Santos clinched his maiden title of the year and secured his spot in the year-end Grand Finals.

In the semi-final, Santos stopped top seed Jaden Milan with a score of 191-145, while 2nd seed Leal overcame 9th seed Mary Jane Nisperos.  To reach the final match, Santos also triumphed in two additional elimination rounds, besting 7th seed Ross Salas and 5th seed AJ Sarsalejo in the quarterfinals.

Bowlers continue to jockey for the Grand Finals in December.  Ricky Duenas leads the group followed by Ray San Nicolas, Taimanglo, Camacho, Uncangco, Leon Guerrero, Daniel Lee, Matthew Cruz, Brian Manibusan, and Evan Duenas in the top ten.  AJ Sarsalejo leads the Prince division with Santos, Isaiah Macias, Brantley, Dylan Taimanglo, Sabrina Fletcher, Henry Abasta, Leody Ersando, Aron Hernandez, and Kenneth Gicos in the top ten.
