The Guam High School Bowling League commenced with a parade of participating schools during the opening ceremony at the Central Lanes Bowling Center. This year’s league features the combined schools of the ISA and IIAAG, with twelve schools competing for the coveted title.
The host organizing committee, Guam Bowling Congress, welcomed the student-athletes with the playing of anthems and the recitation of the sportsmanship, coaches’, and officials’ oaths before officially declaring the league open.
Twelve schools are represented in the inaugural combined league, including:
- Academy of Our Lady of Guam
- Father Duenas Memorial School
- George Washington High School
- Guahan Charter Academy School
- Guam Adventist Academy
- Harvest Christian Academy
- John F. Kennedy High School
- Okkodo High School
- Simon Sanchez High School
- Southern High School
- St. John’s School
- Tiyan High School

The FD Friars had a strong start, sweeping the top four positions against Guahan Charter Academy School. Jaden Milan led the Friars with a 194 average over two games, followed by Ayden Buentipo in second, Dominic Cruz in third, and Ezekiel Gatan in fourth. Aidin Nauta led the GACS Starfish in the contest.
The GW Geckos outscored the SSHS Sharks and SHS Dolphins in the tri-meet. Kaleb Santos of the Geckos topped the field with a 179 average, followed by teammate Ronan Aromin. Sharks’ Gerwin Lagman finished in third, with GW’s Hanz Ramos in fourth. Brandon Manibusan of the Dolphins took 5th place, followed by the Sharks’ Ethan Domingo, Joseph Quintanilla, and Reyshaun Perez.

In the girls’ competition, the Cougars secured a 14-23 win over the Starfish, led by Freshman Aha’ani Sablan, who narrowly edged out teammate Frencin Cabuhat. Starfish’s Ella Rose Cruz finished third, with Cougars’ Summer Pinaula in fourth. Juanie Cruz and Isabella McKinnon of the Starfish took fifth and sixth places, respectively, while Atissa Rabon of the Cougars rounded out the top four bowlers in seventh place.
The Sharks’ girls’ team recorded a win against the Dolphins with a score of 15.5-23. Dolphin’s Cyrish Abad registered the top score, but the Sharks dominated the stats sheet, securing second to fourth places, led by Chelsea Milallos, Jaime Poblete, and Nicole Herrera. Dolphin’s Lynneia Quitugua finished in 5th place, with Sharks’ Trixy Bartolome and Isabella Poblete closing the top four list in 6th and 7th places, respectively.
The league continues with Group B action on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Central Lanes Bowling Center. The competition starts at 4:15 p.m.
