Lady Sharks, Cougars, Friars continue their unbeaten streak

With one week left in the Guam Bowling High School League season before the All-Island meets, the Lady Sharks, Cougars, and Friars lead Group A with unbeaten records. The final week will feature a showdown between the Lady Sharks and the Cougars, determining the regular season champions.

The Cougars swept the top four spots against the Lady Warriors, led by Aha’ani Sablan, Summer Pinaula, Frencin Cabuhat, and Taryn Duenas, while Aljayne Nerza ranked highest for the Warriors in fifth place.

The Lady Sharks maintained their perfect record by narrowly defeating the Starfish 16-23.5. Trixty Bartolome of the Sharks and Ella-Rose Cruz of the Starfish tied for the top spot, followed by Sharks’ Nichole Herrera in third and Starfish’s Isabella McKinnon in fourth. Isabella Poblete and Sheila Carale tied with Chelsea Millalos to complete the top finishers for the Sharks.

The Lady Dolphins evened their record to 2-2 with a win over the Lady Geckos, led by Lynneia Quitugua, Cyrish Abad, Amira Madrelino, and Gabrielle Perez.

The Friars continued their dominance in Group A by securing the top eleven positions against the Warriors, led by Rafael De Guzman, Ezekiel Gatan, Jaden Milan, and Dominic Cruz, with the Warriors’ top player placing twelfth.

The Dolphins improved to 3-1 as the Starfish were unable to field a complete team. The Dolphins were led by Reeve Chamberlain, Brandon Manibusan, Daeton Taumomoa, and Roscoe Zamora.

In the closest match of the season, the Geckos edged out the Sharks by a single point. Micaiah Benton led the Geckos, followed by Kaleb Santos, while the Sharks secured the 3rd, 4th, and 5th spots with Joseph Quintanilla, Gerwin Lagman, and Ethan Domingo. Ronan Aromin of the Geckos and Reyshaun Perez of the Sharks tied for sixth place. Evan Mendiola’s 8th place finish secured the victory for the Geckos with 17.5 points against the Sharks’ 18.5.

As the season draws to a close, athletes are positioning themselves for the All-Island meets on December 17 and 19. Eagle’s Paulina Yoon leads the girls’ division with an average of 154, while Titan’s Eyan Duenas tops the highly competitive boys’ division with a 200 average, just ahead of Islander’s Joevin Wolford. Yoon also leads the high series and high game categories, with Wolford holding the high two-game set at 433, and Eagle’s Paul Ray achieving the highest game of the season with a score of 279.
