The JFK Islanders boys team secured a flawless 5-0 record in Group B action, decisively outpacing the HCA Eagles. Joevin Wolford led the Islanders with a 374 set, followed closely by Stefan Azucena, who was three pins behind, and Tristan Adonay, another three pins adrift. Parker Ashland and Koren Espia of the Eagles finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Ryder Torres of the Islanders completed the top four rankings, securing a 12-24 victory for his team.
The OHS Bulldogs ended their season on a high, sweeping the top four positions against the GAA Angels. Rainen Fernando bowled a personal best 232 game for a 365 series, leading the Bulldogs, followed by Billy Ray Donor, Denhar Malulu, and Damien Carbullido. This victory placed the Bulldogs second in Group B with a 4-1 record.
The Titans edged out the Knights 17-20, thanks to Eyan Duenas’s efforts. Elijah Dewan and Andrew Baker secured second and third for St. John’s Knights, while Dwaine Golle and Zion Ayuyu of the Titans finished fourth and fifth. Although Cynric Zhang of the Knights took sixth place, Cayden Meno clinched the win for the Titans by finishing in seventh.
Wolford achieved the highest average for the league, finishing just ahead of Tiyan High School Titan’s Eyan Duenas, 196-193. Jaden Milan and Riel Brantley of the Friars’, Islanders Stefan Azucena, Eagle’s Parker Ashland, Gecko’s Kaleb Santos and Micaiah Benton, and Friars’ Raf De Guzman and Dominic Cruz round out the top ten league bowlers. Wolford also recorded the highest two-game set of the season with a total of 433, while Paul Ray of the Eagles earned high game honors with a 279.

In a dramatic upset, the Lady Titans ended the Lady Knights’ undefeated run. Eyana Duenas led the match, followed by Ava Ouhadi of the Knights in second. Sarah Joy Tumamak secured third, and Knessa Davis of the Knights came fourth. A tie for fifth place between Olivia Lee of the Knights and Diana Aldan of the Titans gave the Titans a two-point edge, with Kamea Alston securing the victory by finishing seventh, resulting in a 16.5 to 19.5 outcome.
The Eagles finished the season tied with the Lady Knights in Group B for the top spot. Isabella Galsim led the Eagles, with Paulina Yoon in third, Denise Garcia in fifth, and Annabella Laguan in sixth. Juliana Lagman led the Islanders by finishing the match in second.
The GAA Angels defeated the Lady Bulldogs to close out the season. Alexa Taimanglo of the Titans led the field, with Anne Leonardo of the Bulldogs finishing second. The Titans rounded out the top five with Bethany Porter, Sarah Miyagi, and DeJanelle Bass.
Eagle’s Paulina Yoon topped the girls’ division with an average of 152. Aha’ani Sablan, Frencin Cabuhat, and Summer Pinaula of the Cougars followed, with Eyana Duenas of the Titans in fifth. Islander’s Juliana Lagman and Charlie Cabarles, Knights’ Olivia Lee, Eagle’s Denise Garcia, and Starfish Ella Rose Cruz closed out the top ten in the girl’s division. Yoon led the high series category with 337 pins, while teammate Isabella Galsim had the highest game of the season with a score of 183.
The All-Island competition is set for next week. The boys’ competition will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, and the girls’ competition on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Central Lanes Bowling Center at 4:15 p.m.
The top four boys and four girls from each school will compete over three games. The top bowlers from the All-Island competition will receive medals, with the champion being awarded the All-Island Trophy. Team trophies will also be awarded to the top three teams immediately after the competition.
