Luck had nothing to do with it. Jess Muya took it to January champion Manny Tagle Sunday afternoon 241-202 with only a 6 handicap to take the Pin Point Senior Challenge crown for February.

Hard slamming Mike Duenas took his chances in the Last Man Standing competition but failed in his attempt to take home the prize fund by pulling the strike card when he opted to go for the higher percentage cash money. The prize fund now rolls over to March with the current pot at over $400.

Tournament elimination rounds with the A Bracket ended with 7th seed Rick Torres and 12th seed Zaldy Ponce advancing to the next round. Muya (6th seed) and 11th seed Alex Santiago survived the B bracket elimination.

Torres and Ponce eliminated 3rd seed Art Dulla in the A bracket but had to do a one ball roll off to advance. Ponce took the battle with a strike over Torres’ 7 count. The B bracket was won by Muya who upset 4th seed 2024 Grand Champion Jim Pinaula and Santiago to move on to the semifinals.

Muya then lit up the lanes with two high scoring games of 241 and 269 with handicap to upset top seed Mike Duenas. Ponce almost pulled his upset against 2nd seed Tagle. The two tied with one win apiece but a blistering strike by Tagle overcame a solid 10 pin standing by Ponce to move to the championship game.

It was there that Muya unleashed a barrage of strikes from the onset to overwhelm Tagle who although fought back to keep up, he could not string as many pins thus halting his attempt to repeat as champion.
