Raiders and Manta Rays Dominate Week Four of IIAAG Middle School Bowling League

Guam’s young bowlers brought the heat in Week Four of the IIAAG Middle School Bowling League at the Central Lanes Bowling Center, where the St. Anthony Catholic School (SACS) Raiders boys and the SIFA Manta Rays girls proved unstoppable in their respective divisions.

The Raiders faced an uphill battle early, as the Andersen Middle School Dragons surged ahead in the Baker’s format. However, with resilience and skill, the Raiders steadily climbed the leaderboard, delivering a crucial 182 game in the seventh match. The momentum shift also saw the Manta Rays boys make a push for second place heading into the final showdown.

In the thrilling eighth and final game, the Raiders scored 140 pins, while the Dragons posted a solid 157. In a nail-biting finish, the Dragons edged out the Manta Rays by a mere twenty pins, securing second place by just a single pin.

The victorious Raiders squad featured standout performances from Dylan Cruz, Xavier Quinata, Kyrie Pangelinan, and team anchor Lyo Sawada. The Dragons, who claimed second place, were powered by Jaydyn Aribal, Louie Chapman, Landon Valliere, and Nathan Caasi. Meanwhile, the third-place Manta Rays showcased the talents of Leland de Vera, Justin Bersamin, Eli-jay Stone Santos, and Sylas Mandapat.

SIFA Manta Rays girls team

On the girls’ side, the Manta Rays continued their reign, dominating their division with a remarkable 134-pin lead over second-place SJS Knights. The DCS Veritas team edged out the SACS Raiders by ten pins to secure third place.

The Manta Rays’ winning lineup included Tasilynn Reyes, Aubreale Charfauros, Althea Arigalado, and Nia de Asis. The Knights were represented by Mille Crisfield, Lya Kobayashi, Meimei Lan, and Yedam Kim, while the Veritas squad featured Natalie Acierto, Juliana Austria, Mikaela Gabrianne Benitez, and Sophia Lynn Valencia.

With the league action intensifying, all eyes are now on the highly anticipated All Island competition. The showdown will conclude with the crowning of a singles event champion on Monday, May 12, followed by the Baker’s Team championship on Tuesday, May 13. Both events begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
