Thrilling Upsets and Nail-Biting Finishes Define June’s King and Prince of the Lanes!

Sunday, June 15, 2025 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

With every roll demanding absolute precision and icy consistency, the battle for the June King and Prince titles at Central Lanes Bowling Center was nothing short of heart-stopping. The competition was fierce, the lanes were unforgiving, and only the strongest survived.

Jay Leon Guerrero, Budweiser King of the Lanes June 2025

In the King Division, Cisco Uncangco took the qualifying round by a razor-thin 14-pin margin, fending off a hard-charging Jay Leon Guerrero, a seasoned stalwart of Team Guam. The top ten contenders vying for bowling glory included Ricky Duenas, Maria Tosco, Noel Ponseca, Dylan Taimanglo, Cameron Santos, Evan Duenas, Noah Taimanglo, and Steve Esplana.

As the elimination rounds heated up, Uncangco barely edged out 6th-seed Dylan Taimanglo by a single mark, while Leon Guerrero outdueled 4th-seed Maria Tosco in a tense two-mark finish. That set the stage for a winner-takes-all showdown between the top two seeds, where both bowlers fought for control, struggling to find the strike zone. In a dramatic finish, a lone Brooklyn strike became the deciding factor, allowing Leon Guerrero to snatch victory by a single pin, as Uncangco’s final-frame spare and nine-count forced Guerrero to make a nerve-wracking 3-6 spare conversion for the win.

With the clutch victory, the tenacious veteran of Team Guam notches his first triumph of the year, punching his ticket to the highly anticipated year-end finals.

Houston Martin, Budweiser Prince of the Lanes June 2025

Meanwhile, in the Prince Division, the championship round exploded with upsets! 8th-seed Martin Houston turned heads as he blazed through the stepladder rounds, stunning 4th-seed Ezekiel Gatan, toppling 9th-seed Mike Duenas, and barely scraping past 2nd-seed Alex Santiago by just three pins. The momentum carried Houston into an intense final showdown with defending champion and top seed Gevon Fernandez, who had convincingly dispatched 5th-seed Lisa Duenas in the semifinals.

With the title on the line, Houston capitalized on a crucial missed spare from Fernandez to rip the championship away in a decisive 207-182 victory, sealing the stunning upset and dethroning the reigning King.

Fernandez had topped the Prince division qualifiers, followed closely by Santiago, Ayden Buentipo, Gatan, Duenas, Charlie Cabarles, Naiyah Taimanglo, Houston, Mike Duenas, and Aaron Cunanan.

The action doesn’t stop here! The next Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes will take center stage Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 1:15 p.m. at Central Lanes Bowling Center.
