The ISA High School Bowling League launched its inaugural season with a bang—and the John F. Kennedy High School Islanders wasted no time making their mark. In a nail-biting finish, JFK squeaked past a talented field of six schools to claim top honors in the singles event, setting the tone for a season of fierce competition and high-flying pins.

2nd place Christof Pineda of JFK Islanders.

Leading the Islander charge was Christof Pineda, who lit up the lanes with a league-high opening game of 234, finishing second overall with a sizzling 424 two-game total. Zayne Ayangco rolled into 8th place, Leland DeVera landed in 13th, and Hajin Lee rounded out the squad in 20th—earning JFK a solid 43 team points and the top spot on the leaderboard.

But the battle was far from one-sided. Simon Sanchez High and Tiyan High School locked into a dramatic tie for second place with 47 points apiece. Tiyan’s Eyan Duenas dazzled with a tournament-best 429 series, including games of 223 and 206, while teammates Xavier Sablan, Robert Peredo III, and Joseph Mesa kept the Titans in striking distance. The Sharks of Simon Sanchez were no less fierce, led by Ethan Domingo’s 5th place finish and strong showings from Christian Bernal, Gerwin Lagman, and Cyrus Abad.

3rd place Kaleb Santos of GW Geckos.

Okkodo High School Bulldogs clawed their way to 4th with 53 points, thanks to Bill Rey Donor’s powerful 227 opener and consistent support from Rainen Fernando, Javen Coronado, Deon Apatang, and Kyle Leonardo.

The lanes were alive with standout performances from Kaleb Santos of George Washington Geckos who claimed 3rd with a 367 set, joined by teammate Geovanni Kinotki in 6th. Southern High’s Brandon Manibusan rolled into 7th place, and Roen Abaya of Business & Technology Academy Charter School Bull’s rounded out the top ten in 9th.

The excitement continues Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with the crowd-favorite Team Baker’s event at 3:30 p.m. at Central Lanes Bowling Center. Expect more strikes, more surprises, and plenty of school spirit as the league rolls on!
