Camacho Sets the Pace in U22 Storm Challenge Opener; Sablan Leads Tight U15 Field as Youth Bowlers Shine at Central Lanes

Central Lanes, Tamuning, Guam — The energy was electric at Central Lanes Bowling Center as Day 1 of the 2025 U22 Storm Challenge kicked off with a blazing performance from defending champion Jeremiah Camacho, who surged to the top of the leaderboard with a dominant 773 scratch series, averaging 257 pins per game — a full 150 pins ahead of the next highest scratch score.

Camacho launched his title defense with a powerful 248, followed by a consistent 247, and then scorched the lanes with a fiery 278 to close out the set. With handicaps factored in, Camacho leads second-place Rafael De Guzman by 32 pins, setting the tone for a thrilling weekend of youth bowling excellence.

Other standout games included Santos’ 256, Duenas’ 237, and De Guzman’s 233, showcasing the depth of talent in this year’s field.

U15 Division: Sablan Edges Ahead in Nail-Biter

In the U15 category, Aha’ani Sablan holds a slim 4-pin lead over Nathan Caasi, with Eyan Duenas close behind. The division saw high scores flying early, with Duenas rolling a 241 and 231, Caasi dropping in a 230 and 213, and Sablan posting a strong 217. Lyo Sawada also made waves with a solid 206.

Competition resumes Sunday, September 21, with all bowlers returning for another three-game set. Afterward, the field will be cut to the Top 16 in each division for the elimination round, followed by the Elite 8, Final Four, and the ultimate Championship Showdown.

The Guam Bowling Congress invites the community to cheer on these rising stars as they battle for glory and showcase the island’s youth talent on the lanes.
