Sunday, December 7, 2025 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

Fifth Seed Tony Sobrevilla and eleventh seed Sheila Bangs each took out their higher seeded opponents to meet in the championship match. In the end, Sobrevilla held off Bangs whose missed spare in the tenth ended the game 197-191 and crowning Sobrevilla the title for the December Pin Point Senior Monthly Challenge.
Senior two hander Cris Leal got a good chunk of the Last Man Standing (LMS) jackpot by striking to get 10% and a great start to the day’s competition. This means the finals for the last man standing is looking to be close to $4,000 or more to be held in January next year.
The top 16 elimination brackets began with Sobrevilla taking bracket A along with 16th seed Rose Tosco over 14th seed Rene Cariaso, 12th seed Joe Murphy, 9th seed Zaldy Ponce, and 7th seed Manny Tagle. Bracket B belonged to Bangs and 10th seed Jesse Eyoel who advanced past 15th seed John Abad, 13th seed Mike Duenas, 8th seed Manny Palileo, and 6th seed LMS winner Cris Leal.
The second round ensued with Sobrevilla continuing his march to the title by upsetting 3rd seed Nick Gutierrez and Tosco to advance in the A bracket. Bangs did likewise upsetting 4th seed Jess Meno and Eyoel to move to the next round.

Sobrevilla then had to beat 3rd seed Gina San Nicolas twice to get to the championship match. Bangs performed in similar fashion by defeating fellow league team mate, November champion, and top seed Jim Pinaula to earn her spot in the finals.
The championship game was a battle of wills as Bangs marked in four of the first five frames to take the lead over Sobrevilla who opened in two of the first five frames in the final stanza. But Bangs’ missed spare in the sixth frame opened the door for Sobrevilla as he unleashed three strikes in the sixth to eight frame to take the lead. But the match developed into a nail biter in the end as Sobrevilla opened in the final two frames while he sat and watched Bangs claw her way back only to fall short with the open frame in the tenth to hand over the championship to Sobrevilla.
The win was very satisfying for both opponents as they had their struggles over the year just making it into the top sixteen every month. Both were pleased with their efforts and the prize money that came as a result of their efforts Sunday.
This brings the end of the 2025 season for the Pin Point Senior Monthly Challenge which is going to be capped off by the grand finals two day event. The tournament finalists are based on the previous months of competition calculated on points garnered from the qualifiers entered and their final position in each month. This year’s championship final looks to improve over last year’s field. Furthermore, rule changes have been made by tournament organizers that looks to make for a more fair points garnering and encourage more participants in this sponsored event by Pin Point Pro Shop.
A new senior event sponsored by the Guam Senior Bowlers Association (GSBA) monthly tournament will be added to the senior event bowling calendar in January 2026. Information on these two prestigious events will be forthcoming over the next couple of months.
