San Nicolas, Sawada March on to K&P titles

Sunday, March 29, 2026 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

IT&E King of the Lanes March 2026 Ray San Nicolas.

Ray San Nicolas made a triumphant return to the lanes after a couple of months away on National Guard training, capturing his first IT&E King of the Lanes monthly title of the year. Despite the layoff, San Nicolas quickly found his rhythm, finishing sixth in the four‑game qualifier before powering through the elimination rounds to claim the crown.

San Nicolas opened his title run by defeating seventh seed Cameron Santos by three marks, then advanced past tenth seed John Abad, who had earlier eliminated fifth seed John Mercado. In the semifinals, San Nicolas continued his dominant performance with a decisive seven‑mark victory over top seed Noah Taimanglo. He sealed the championship with another strong win, this time over second seed Darien Borja in the final match.

Borja earned his place in the finals by edging third seed Jeremiah Camacho by two pins. Camacho’s final‑frame shot drifted high, leaving a six count that ended his comeback bid. Earlier, Camacho defeated fourth seed Aaron Elliott in the quarterfinals and rolled a tournament‑high 297 against ninth seed Robert Peredo in the opening round. Elliott advanced to the quarterfinals after narrowly defeating eighth seed Ricky Duenas.

Taimanglo led the day’s qualifying round with an 849 series, followed by Borja, Camacho, Elliott, Mercado, San Nicolas, Santos, Duenas, Peredo, and Abad rounding out the top ten.

IT&E Prince of the Lanes March 2026 Lyo Sawada.

In the Prince Division, 14‑year‑old Lyo Sawada returned to the winner’s circle with a composed and determined run through the elimination bracket. Entering as the fourth seed, Sawada opened with a four‑mark victory over eighth seed Zayne Ayongco. He then delivered a clutch tenth‑frame turkey to hold off third seed Nathan Caasi, who had earlier edged ninth seed Naiyah Taimanglo by one mark.

Sawada continued his momentum in the semifinals, defeating second seed Virgil Toledo by three marks. The championship match proved to be a nail‑biter, with Sawada narrowly overcoming tenth seed Gevon Fernandez. Fernandez had a chance to force a tie but was unable to convert a 10‑pin spare, sealing the win for Sawada.

Fernandez’s impressive run to the finals included victories over fifth seed Austin Cajigel, seventh seed Hairo Abad, and top seed Nixon Caasi. Abad advanced earlier by eliminating sixth seed Angelica Malacas.

The Prince Division qualifying round was topped by senior bowlers Nixon Caasi and Virgil Toledo, followed by Nathan Caasi, Sawada, Cajigel, Malacas, Abad, Ayongco, Fernandez, and Taimanglo completing the top ten.

The next IT&E King and Prince of the Lanes tournament is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
