36th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship Shah Alam, Malaysia

Qualifying Information

Preface

The Asian Intercity Qualifying rounds for Guam’s representatives are held to choose the Guam Bowling Congress members who will represent our island in the 36th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship in Shah Alam, Malaysia from October 24-31, 2024.

Eligibility

A valid passport copy must be provided.  The validity date should be after April 30, 2025.

  1. Must be a member of the Guam Bowling Congress with a valid membership card.

Fees

The fee for each week of bowling shall be $40.00.  These fees shall be used to pay for lane lineage to the venue.

Qualifying Information

Bowlers with an intention to compete in this event must fill out a Guam Bowling Congress application form.  This form will be used for our database and future events, local and international.  Bowlers must also be available to travel to and from the event site.   Qualifying dates will be held as follows:

  • Sunday, August 11, 2024              12:00 p.m.          4 games  
  • Sunday, August 18, 2024              12:00 p.m.          4 games   King and Prince of the Lanes
  • Sunday, August 25, 2024              12:00 p.m.          4 games

Those competing in sanctioned Guam Bowling Congress International competitions during these time frames will be provided a makeup day to complete their qualifying series.  Bowlers must complete 12 games to qualify for the team.

Based on the format provided, the top twelve men and twelve women will be named to the Team Pool.   

Provisions for Off-Island competitors

Bowlers with interest in being considered for the Guam Team Pool must submit their intention no later than August 4, 2024.  However, all eligibility rules must be met.  Interested bowlers must present their scores to the Secretary-General of the Guam Bowling Congress every week along with the pattern they had bowled on.  If possible, the interested member should discuss with their respective bowling center to provide a similar, if not the same, pattern to bowl on.  With this, if possible, a video/online session will be required with the Secretary-General of the Guam Bowling Congress.  Off-island competitors will be responsible for their round-trip tickets to Guam and the event site.

Each member shall be responsible for paying all accounts in conjunction with the events.  Fundraising events will be held to assist in defraying the costs of participating in the championship.

Team Guam Information

Members of the Guam Team Pool will be subjected to the following criteria:

A daily/weekly training regimen will be implemented at the end of the qualifying program.

  • Smoking and Drinking of Alcoholic Beverages will not be tolerated during all qualifying rounds, practices, training, and tournament proceedings.

Guam Bowling Congress shall announce the representation for the named event based on the qualifying rounds and practice regimen.  Guam Bowling Congress Board of Directors will announce their decisions for any existing vacancy(ies).  Agreement forms between the bowlers partaking in this qualifying round and the eventual team members shall sign an abiding contract and code of ethics before the bowler bowls his/her first qualifying event which stipulates that the bowler has read and understands the requirements set forth by the Guam Bowling Congress.

Force Majeure

This schedule is subject to change due to inhuman occurrences.  The qualifying round and/or practice schedule will be canceled in cases when tropical storm condition 2, typhoon condition 2 is declared, or if any natural disaster occurs.  When power outages occur, both scheduled and unscheduled, the tournament director shall reschedule the date(s) missed, provided no generator system is available at the venue.

36th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship information

The championship will be held from October 24 to 31, 2024 in Shah Alam, Malaysia.  The Kuala Lumpur International Airport is the landing airport.  The suggested airline route is through Philippine Airlines to Manila connecting on Malaysia Airlines.  Other desirable routes are through Incheon International Airport or Narita International Airport. 

Hotel accommodations must be made through the organizing committee by the Guam Bowling Congress.  The competition fees are $200.00 per person, while supporters are charged $100.00 per person, inclusive of the coach and team officials.

Senior bowlers with the intent of competing in this event after the Asian Seniors Championship in Singapore will be able to take a bus to Kuala Lumpur.  For information, see a Guam Bowling Congress representative.
