Gadia leads day 1 AIMAG qualifier

Sunday, October 9, 2016 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

Michael Gadia tallied the only overage during the first day of competition in the qualifier for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.  Gadia was able to pour in an overage of 101 pins over six games on the 40’ medium lane pattern.  His 1301 total was 112 pins better than second placer Dante Godoy.  Zayne Zamora settled in a tie for third place with current National Team Member Ray San Nicolas who submitted a 1179 set.  13-year-old Jeremiah Camacho’s 1154 total put him ahead of National Team representatives Timothy Nauta, Gregory Borja and Cesar Villanueva to end the day in fifth place.

In the women’s division, Arlene Reyes and Kathy Mandapat were the only two female aspirants.  Reyes finished the six game set with 1052 total while Mandapat ended with a 970.

The competitors will go through a series of competitions consisting of 12 lane patterns.  The top ten bowlers will be named to the team with the selection committee announcing the final six representatives to the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games team.

The next qualifier will be held in conjunction with the Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes competition on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
