Leon Guerrero captures April Bud title, Hernandez claims maiden Prince crown

Sunday, April 23, 2017 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

Jay Leon Guerrero collected his second 2017 Budweiser King of the Lanes monthly title as he dispatched toped seed Zachary Ford in the championship round of the April event.  Leon Guerrero cruised to a 228-152 victory as he led from start to finish.  With his second monthly title, he regained pole position with 75 tournament points followed by Ricky Duenas’ 57, Gregory Borja 42, Aaron Elliot 37 and Paul Thompson at 34.

Ford and Leon Guerrero defeated their semi-final round opponents in the earlier match.  Ford desecrated 7th seed Dante Godoy 253-161 while Leon Guerrero dismissed 3rd seed Aaron Elliot 225-206.

Ford led all King of the Lanes qualifiers with a 220-average finishing with 1321 pin falls.  Leon Guerrero followed 63 pins adrift.  Elliott, Charlie Catbagan, Jeremiach Camacho, Joshua Madrid, Godoy, Ray Manibusan and Mike Gadia rounded off the top ten who competed in the elimination round.

The Aloha Maid Prince of the Lanes championship round featured two first time finalists.  The match between 2nd seed Jethro Lanuza and 7th seed Arnold Hernandez turned into an entertaining final as both bowlers battled neck to neck throughout the game.  In the end, the lower seed edged out the higher seed by six sticks 177-171 as Hernandez claimed his first-ever title.

In the semi-final round, Hernandez dethroned defending champion and top seed Frank Manibusan Jr. 190-165 while Lanuza defeated 9th seed Eya Salandanan to set up the finale.

Frank Manibusan Jr. finished the six games qualifying round with a 1257 total including handicap followed by Jethro Lanuza, Arlene Reyes, Joshua Lanuza, Lisa Duenas, Rudy Palaganas, Arnold Hernandez, Evan Duenas, Eyan Salandanan and Arnold Javier.

The next Budweiser King and Aloha Maid Prince of the Lanes will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
