Taimanglo siblings continue youth bowling dominance

July 2017 winners

Sunday, July 2, 2017 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

The story line to the Taimanglo sibling’s sequel continued during the Triple J Youth bowler of the month held at the Central Lanes Bowling Center on July 2, 2017.  The thrilling match was just as exciting as the previous month as top seed Naiyah Taimanglo and 2nd seed Noah Taimanglo battled for the coveted title.  As the game progressed, the plot thickened.  Could the number 2 seed older sibling erase the 46 pin handicap advantage and beat out his younger sister, or will Naiyah win her first back to back title.  Throughout the match, Noah chipped away at the deficit, however his sister wasn’t quite ready to be dethroned.  With the game winding down, Noah was able to take full advantage of the high scoring pattern finishing with a 237 total that forced his sister to throw a double for the title.  In the end, Naiyah left a 4-5 split, racking up a total of 224 pins that ended her title hopes and gave the July title to her older brother.

Noah Taimanglo had no mercy on his opponent during the semi-final match against 4th seed Annastashia Leon Guerrero striking at will including reeling off five strikes in a row to set up a rematch against his sibling.  Taimanglo smashed the pins for a 248 game while Leon Guerrero finished with a 211.

The quarter final match turned into a nail biter as the match went to the wire.  Frank Manibusan Jr. erased an 18-pin handicap advantage by Annastashia Leon Guerrero to take the lead by 1 pin with one frame left.  However, Leon Guerrero punched out on the tenth frame to finish with a 210-game forcing Manibusan to replicate the feat.  With the game on the line, Manibusan delivered on the first throw but was unable to follow through on the next delivery allowing Leon Guerrero to advance to the semi-final match.

Naiyah Taimanglo led all qualifiers in the four games session held earlier in the day with a 932 total including handicap followed by Noah Taimanglo, Frank Manibusan Jr., Annastashia Leon Guerrero, Jeremiah Camacho, James Doyle, Jacecelyn Espiritu, Evan Duenas, Drewlene Ojeda and Jaymason Doyle rounded off the top ten.

The next Triple J Youth bowler of the month will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
