Sunday, October 1, 2017 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
Annastashia Leon Guerrero earned her second Triple J Guam Youth Bowler of the month title of 2017 beating out top seed Jaecelyn Espiritu during the October finals at the Central Lanes Bowling Center. Leon Guerrero opened an early 23 pin lead then added on to the lead with a four bagger to establish supremacy for the month with a 225-187 tilt.
2nd seed Leon Guerrero took advantage of missed frames by challenger Frank Manibusan Jr to take an 18-pin lead midway through the semi-final match then cruised on for the win and advanced to the finals.
In the quarter final step ladder round, 3rd seed Jeremiah Camacho and 4th seed Frank Manibusan Jr. opened the match with an even stance as Camacho took a two-pin lead after a pin ten miss by the lower seed. However, Camacho was unable to carry through the mid game as Manibusan strung a three bagger to take a 16-pin advantage. A missed eighth frame by Manibusan put Camacho back into the match needing a strike to take the lead, but left another pin seven that ultimately tipped the match in favor of Manibusan 211-185.
Southpaw Jaecelyn Espiritu grabbed the lime light during the four-game qualifier held earlier in the day topping the field with a 961 total including 120 pins of handicap. Annastashia Leon Guerrero finished in second place with a 951 (132 handicap) series followed by a scratch score of 889 by Jeremiah Camacho, while Frank Manibusan Jr. and Jarwin Espiritu registered identical scores of 869 for the fourth and final spot of the qualifying round which resulted in a one frame roll off. Manibusan executed the extra frame with a strike while Espiritu’s pocket hit left a pin ten that dropped him out of contention.
The next Triple J Guam Youth Bowler of the Lanes will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017, 9:00 a.m at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
