Sunday, January 6, 2019 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
Frank Manibusan Jr. opened the finals match of the Pin Point Guam Youth Bowler of the month with a three bagger to take a 24-pin lead over 4th seed Evan Duenas. Duenas then countered with a six bagger from frame five that dissipated the top seed’s lead. In the process, Manibusan was able to put together another turkey to hold on to a six-pin advantage going into the final frame. With the monthly title up for grabs Duenas struck on the first ball of the final stanza which forced Manibusan to follow suit. Duenas then left a pin ten on the fill frame which ended his run to the first title of the year as Manibusan pulled off a 230+8 to 218+14 victory.
In the earlier rounds, Duenas capitalized on missed frames by 2nd seed Andrew Perez in the wading frames to advance to the finals 191 to 120. Duenas doubled in the opening stanza of the consolation match, then played a steady strike-spare game to overcome 3rd seed Paul Perez’ 31 pin handicap advantage and advance to the semi-final match against Perez’ younger sibling.
Manibusan took pole position during the qualifying rounds with an 834 set on games of 251, 217, 211 and 160. Andrew Perez finished second followed by Paul Perez and Evan Duenas who qualified for the step ladder finals format.
The next Pin Point Guam Youth Bowler of the month will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
