Sunday, February 17, 2019 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
In a hotly contested King of the Lanes monthly finals, 8th seed Ricky Duenas and 10th seed Aaron Elliott showed their prowess on the 36’ World Bowling pattern as they went toe to toe for the Pin Point Guam February championship. In the end, a five bagger by veteran Duenas helped him claimed his first title since 2017 with a 240 to 224 victory.
Elliott and Duenas eliminated the top two seeds during the semi-final match as Elliott used a 1-2 pocket strike in the tenth frame to shut the door on top seed Gregory Borja while Duenas slammed a six bagger for a 235 game to beat 2nd seed Nikko Gutierrez which set up the finale.
Borja topped the leader board with a four-game set of 891 as Gutierrez was 13 pins adrift in second position. Calip finished in third followed by RJ Santos, JD Castro, Jay Leon Guerrero, Mike Gadia, Duenas, Cesar Villanueva and Elliot who rounded off the top ten for the month and proceeded to the elimination bracket.
3rd seed Lito Teodoro slipped past 10th seed Paul Perez 179-167 in the Pin Point Guam Prince of the Lanes finals to claim the monthly title. Teodoro took advantage of several early mishaps by Perez to pull off the win as Perez’ attempt at a 3-6-9 spare came up short.
Both bowlers also eliminated the Top seeds in this division during the semi-final matches as Perez capitalized on his handicap advantage to beat out top seed Gemma Mendoza while Teodoro rocked lanes 23 and 24 to advance against 2nd seed Rudy Palaganas.
Mendoza took pole position in the Prince of the Lanes category followed by Palaganas, Teodoro, Domingo Espinosa, Naiyah Taimanglo, Nick Gutierrez, Gomez Martinez, Arlene Reyes, Ed Mandapat and Perez.
The next Pin Point Guam King and Prince of the Lanes will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
