RJ Santos bagged his second Pin Point Guam King of the Lanes 2019 title after disposing of 2nd seed Aaron Elliott in the final match for the title. Santos opened the match with a four bagger and took full advantage of the lower seed’s mishaps as he cruised to a 248 game, seventy pins more than Elliott’s output.
Santos and Elliott qualified for the final match by scorching the lanes during the semi-final round. Top seed Santos ousted 6th seed Zayne Zamora 209-149 while Elliott strung three sets of turkeys for a 235-175 set against 3rd seed Noah Taimanglo.
Santos took pole position during the four-game qualifier held earlier in the day averaging 228 pins per game on the 43’ World Bowling pattern. Elliott finished second with an 852-set followed by Taimanglo, Gregory Borja, JD Castro, Zamora, Nikko Gutierrez, Brian Manibusan, Cesar Villanueva and Darien Borja rounded off the top ten who proceeded to the elimination rounds.
Arnold Hernandez claimed his first 2019 Pin Point Guam Prince of the Lanes title by beating top seed and first time competitor Kalen Bradley 177 to 159 pin the final match. Hernandez held on to an early lead as he consistently spared throughout the match and was one frame cleaner than Bradley.
Both top seeds survived the semi-final match by narrow margins as number one seed Bradley used his handicap advantage to slip past 6th seed Lisa Duenas 146+24 to 153+13. 2nd seed Hernandez closed his match out with a five bagger to edge out Paul Perez who missed a 3-10 split in the final stanza for a 210+22 to 185+44 thriller.
Bradley surged into pole position with a 218 in the last game of the qualifying round to top Hernandez by two pins 791-789. Gomez finished in third place followed by Paul Perez, Virgil Toledo, Lisa Duenas, Ken Duenas, Chris Leal, Gerald Davis and Joshua Munoz entered the top ten via a one frame roll off with Rudy Palaganas to proceed to the elimination rounds.
The next Pin Point Guam King and Prince of the Lanes will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
