Norton Leads Shootout for Senior Bowler of the Year

Saturday, December 29, 2019 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

Senior Bowler of the Year Shootout Tournament Sixth Seed Chris Norton nipped tenth seed Norison Catbagan by three pins to lead the eight person pack to face the top eight in Sunday’s Guam Senior Bowlers Association Grand Finals. The Saturday Shootout pitted twelve bowlers out of sixteen bowlers who were able to make the shootout round Saturday morning in a five game format with the top eight with the highest pinfall with handicap will advance to Sunday’s finals against the top eight bowlers who drew a bye for Saturday.

Norton who had a zero handicap finished with a 1,011 pinfall followed by Catbagan with a 1,008 count for second position. Third position went to third seed Zaldy Ponce who finished with a 980 pinfall. Ninth seed Nick Gutierrez took fourth position with a 972 count. Ten pins behind with a 962 total for fifth position was seventh seed Manny Vilaga. Sixth position went to fourth seed Liz Salas with a 934 pinfall count. The seventh position was taken by twelfth seed Rose Tosco who had a 893 finish. The eighth and final coveted position went to eleventh seed Edgar Nalundasan who finished with a 891 total.

Reserves for Sunday’s finals should any of the top sixteen fail to check in by 8:45 am in order of finish in the shootout are Alex Kloulubak, Rick Ada, Remy Matanane, and Lito Teodoro.

The 2019 GSBA Senior Grand Finals Championship will be held on Sunday, December 29 at 9AM. The top sixteen will compete for cash prizes and the prestige of being the 2019 GSBA Senior Bowler of the Year. In addition, there will be a special “Winner Take All” GSBA members only $1000 cash prize tournament that will pit the top eight bowlers of the grand finals tournament as a year end bonus money for being fully paid members of the Guam Senior Bowlers Association.
