The Harvest Eagles girls and FD Friars boys ended their regular season undefeated with 4-0 records in the inaugural IIAAG Bowling League. The league’s final regular-season meet was also a senior night for the 20 senior players.

The Eagles and Friars are heading into the all-island finale as favorites but with players reaching their peak, anything can happen on Saturday.

Duenas bowls season best
Evan Duenas bowled the highest two-game series of the season shooting a 434 scratch total with games of 210 and 224. Duenas, who plays for the FD Friars, is heading into the all-island meet as the number one seed after passing teammate Aron Hernandez.

Coming in tied third in Monday’s meet was a pair of southpaw players with Elijah Duenas (Harvest) and Michael Pangelinan (FD) both shooting a two-game series of 285.

Pangelinan, who just started throwing a bowling ball a month ago, was pleased with his performance and is excited about the all-island meet. “This season has been a great introduction to competitive bowling for me. I’ve been learning so much and I’m really focused on improving my skill sets to contribute more to the team. The whole experience has been extremely fun,” said Pangelinan.

Southern High School senior Trinity Nalundasan is the league’s top seed for the girl’s division followed by Harvest player Alexandra Loyola. Loyola and the Eagles finished their season undefeated after defeating the St Paul Warriors Monday night.

The all-island meet will be on Saturday at 2pm with all eligible players playing three games. The stakes will be high on Saturday with the team championship and individual honors on the line.

All-island format
The team championship will be determined by how the players place on Saturday. The top ten scores for the boys per team will count for the team points and the top four girls will determine the champion.

Additionally,  the individual all-island champion for boys and girls will be determined by match play with the top three players advancing in a head-to-head matchup. The third-place vs second-place match for both divisions will take place first and the winner will challenge the top seed in a finals matchup.
