Youth bowlers compete in Pins Over Average challenge

Saturday, January 14, 2023 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

GEDA Guam Youth Bowling League drew to a close as teams jockeyed for the final position round.   A pin over average event was incorporated for the youth bowlers as the top eight from each division moved into the finals for Storm or Global 900 bowling ball.

Top seeds from the league qualifying scores were Sean Lee in the male major division, Graig Reyes in the male junior division and Kamila Leones in the girls division.  Each of the top eight bowlers competed in a one game finale.  The top eight in the male major division included Lee, Ethan Robinson, Aron Hernandez, Evan Antonio, Ricardo Duenas II, Daniel Lee, Noah Tano and Evan Duenas.  When all ten frames were completed Ethan Robinson took top honors with 28 pins over average and was awarded a Storm Night Road.

The boy’s junior division top eight qualifiers included Reyes, Donavan Smartt, Benj Austin Encarnacion, Kwon Woo Yoon, Koren Espia, Rai Taitano, Nathaniel Floresca and Elijah Duenas.  The group’s scores were quite close throughout the game. Reyes eventually claimed the Storm Night Road Prize with 21 pins over average.

Aha’ani Sablan received her 900 Global Zen Soul from Program assistant coach Maria Wood.

The girl’s division was led by Leones followed by Aubreale Joleen Charfauros, Paulino Yoon, Xeriza Paige Elayda, Lana Herrera, Aha’ani Sablan, Juliana Lagman and Trinity Nalundasan.  Sablan bowled her highest game of the season to claim the 900 Global Zen Soul bowling ball with 68 pins over average.

The league will celebrate the achievements of the youth bowlers with an awards luncheon on Saturday, January 21, 2023.  Thereafter, the new season will commence on January 28, 2023 at 11:30 a.m.  The league is open to bowlers 8 to 21 years of age.
