Sunday, 3 December 2017 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
Alexandria Loyola surprised the finals field of sixteen bowlers by finishing top seed after the six games qualifier. She then went on to claim the 2017 Triple J Guam Youth Bowler of the Year title via a 168+64 to 188+16 set over 2nd seed Frank Manibusan Jr. Manibusan picked up pins on the 48-pin handicap differential during the early frames capitalizing on missed spares by Loyola. Manibusan then cut the deficit to 18 pins midway through the game on a turkey. However, Loyola countered with a double and began marking each frame to hold off the 2nd seed and lay claim on the Championship trophy.
In the semi-final round, Manibusan erased a 23-pin handicap advantage by 3rd seed Naiyah Taimanglo as he built momentum early in the match, finishing with a 242 scratch game against Taimanglo’s 200 for a 258-239 set to advance to the final match. In the first match, Taimanglo didn’t need her 39 pins handicap as she ousted 4th seed Jeremiah Camacho 199-174 to move into the medal round.
Loyola finished the six games series with a 1350 total behind her 386 pins of handicap, averaging 151 pins scratch along with winning all six match play games. Manibusan submitted a 1166 scratch total for a 1312 tally followed by Taimanglo, Camacho, Darien Borja, Jaeceline Espiritu, Evan Duenas, Merygrace Hernandez, Eyan Duenas and Annastashia Leon Guerrero.
