Sunday, May 21, 2018 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
It was a great day for Dante Godoy and Nick Gutierrez as they claimed the monthly Pin Point Guam King and Prince of the Lanes titles for the month of May. The monthly championship was held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
Godoy rode his hot streak from earlier in the week after bowling the first registered 300 game of the year. Qualifying in fourth position, he beat Pete Castro in round one of the elimination round, then derailed defending champion Jeremiah Camacho to advance to the semi-finals. It was there where he began his mastery of the lanes beating 2nd seed RJ Santos 269-246 stringing an eight bagger to seal the match. In the monthly finale, Godoy got to work early as he locked the game midway through the match against a struggling 7th seed Gregory Borja. The only remaining feat was a perfect game in sight. Godoy put together ten strikes in a row before leaving a pin ten in the eleventh shot for a 289 game.
Aaron Elliot led all King of the Lanes competitors during the qualifying round held earlier in the day followed by RJ Santos, Justin Mendiola, Godoy, Darien Borja, Mike Gadia, Castro, Camacho, Borja and Brian Manibusan.
In the Prince of the Lanes division, it was a hotly contested finals pitting 2nd seed Gutierrez against 7th seed Mergrace Hernandez. The match went all the way to the final frame as Hernandez forced Gutierrez to spare for the title. Gutierrez stepped up to the place and delivered converting a 6-10 leave and claiming his first title since 2010 alongside Godoy.
Raymond Cruz took pole position in the Prince field followed by Gutierrez, Rolly Hernandez, Lito Teodoro, Cam Santos, Arnold Hernandez, Eya Salandanan, Naiyah Taimanglo, Merygrace Hernandez and Kioni Aflague rounded off the top ten elimination round qualifiers.
The next Pin Point Guam King and Prince of the Lanes will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
