The monthly finals of the Guam Youth Bowler of the month was contested by a pair of two handed keglers. Top seed Frank Manibusan Jr. erased a 7-pin handicap advantage from 4th seed Evan Duenas after three frames, but Duenas’ double in the fourth and fifth frames regained the lead by a stick. Manibusan struck back with a double in the 5th and 6th frames for a six-pin lead but missed a 2-8 conversion. Duenas came roaring back with another double on the 7th and 8th frames to take a 14 pin lead but left a 4-9 split on the ninth of which he picked a stick. Manibusan’s spare in the ninth frame brought Duenas’ lead down to two pins with one frame remaining. Duenas struck on the tenth forcing Manibusan to strike to stay in the game, however, a seven count by Manibusan sealed the match for Duenas’ first title of the year with a final score of 190+11 to 189+18.
Duenas opened the semi-final match with a four-bagger to take the lead from 2nd seed Noah Taimanglo by 33 pins mid-way through the match and never looked back. Duenas easily advance to the final match with a final tally of 232 to 192.
4th seed Duenas advanced to the semi-final round by defeating 3rd seed Naiyah Taimanglo in the quarter final match. Duenas used a couple of doubles and took advantage of missed spares by the higher seed to win 204+18 to 162+20.
Manibusan led all bowlers in the qualifier held earlier in the day with a 838 total including handicap followed by Noah Taimanglo, Naiyah Taimanglo, Evan Duenas, Paul Perez, Alana Fegurgur, Eyan Duenas, Bryce Jacosalem, Sebastian Loyola and Jaeceline Espiritu rounded off the top ten. The next Youth bowler of the month will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
