13 December 2018 – 15th Asian Seniors Bowling Championship, Okinawa, Japan
Guam’s Jimmy Pinaula took the silver medal in the Senior men’s singles event narrowly beating Hattori Yoshimori of Japan by a two pin margin at the 15th Asian Senior Bowling Championship in Okinawa, Japan. Pinaula’s six game 1331 series was enough to put him on the podium alongside gold medalist Son Yong Mok of Korea and bronze medalist Yoshinori of Japan. It was a very gratifying experience for Pinaula who had to stay focused against the other competitors in his category, many of whom are former professional bowlers from their respective countries. Pinaula posted games of 213, 212, 226, 245, 223 and 212.
Members of the Guam Senior Bowlers Association competing in the championship include Manny Torre, Gene Bangayan, Manny Tagle, Joe Mafnas, Patricia Roberto, Buddy Saludo, Nestor Valencia, Alex Kloulubak, Felice Meeks, Elizabeth Salas, John Salas and Rick Torres. The championship continues with the doubles and team of four event followed by the top 16 masters event along with the all events category.
