Sunday, February 3, 2019 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
A nip and tuck finals match between top seed Evan Duenas and 3rd seed Noah Taimanglo during the early frames was blown wide open as Taimanglo dropped a barrage of strikes on the higher seed. In the process, Taimanglo erased the 14-pin handicap deficit from the 12-year-old top seed. Taimanglo put the nail in the coffin with a strike on the final stanza to win the February edition of the Pin Point Guam Youth Bowler of the Month.
Taimanglo erased the 17-pin handicap advantage of 2nd seed Jaeceline Espiritu early in the semi-final match, keying on several missed spares by the higher seed. A split on frame seven by Espiritu, increased Taimanglo’s lead to 14 pins thereafter cruising on to the final match.
Jeremiah Camacho opened the first match with two doubles to take an early lead over Taimanglo. However, Taimanglo bounced back after a first frame open with two turkeys to wrestle the lead back from Camacho at the halfway point by fourteen pins. With both competitors missing on the ninth frame, Taimanglo shut the door on 4th seed Camacho with a strike to advance to the semi-final match.
18-year-old Espiritu drained twelve strikes in a row to open the February edition of the Pin Point Guam Youth Bowler of the month to bowl the first perfect game of the year. In the process, she became the first female bowler to bowl a perfect game in the event and only the second female bowler to bowl a perfect game at Central Lanes.
Duenas led all competitors in the qualifying round followed by Espiritu, Taimanglo, Camacho, Naiyah Taimanglo and Josiah Lanuza.
The next Pin Point Guam Youth Bowler of the month will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
