PinPoint Guam host Youth bowling competition

Saturday, February 25, 2023 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

Guam’s youth bowlers competed in the first bowler of the month tournament since the pandemic as medals were awarded to the top three finishers in the girls, boys junior and boys senior divisions.

This year’s format is based on pins over average where bowlers compete over three games to qualify for the top four position step ladder matches.

Noah Tano led the boys’ senior field with 59 pins over his average and held on against Noah Taimanglo in the championship match to claim the gold medal in the first qualifying month of the yearlong event.  Taimanglo settled for silver after bowling games of 202, 237 and 224 beating 3rd seed Ethan Robinson by 22 points in the semi-finals and Ricardo Duenas II by two points in the quarter-final match.

10 year old Tydus Baker climbed the ladder in the junior division as he beat Tristan Adonay in the quarterfinal match by 36 points, then ousted Elijah Duenas in the semi-final match by 11 points before claiming the gold medal in the championship match against top seed Elijah Dewan by 15 points.  Dewan finished the qualifying event with the most pins over average topping the field with 104 points.

In the girls division, Juliana Lagmas took top honors and defeated Paulina Yoon in the finals by 26 points for the gold medal.  Yoon advanced to the final match beating Trinity Nalundasan by 24 points while the latter advanced to the semi-final match by edging Aubreal Charfauros by 9 points.
