Aaron Elliott returned to top form as he marched past the field to earn his first monthly title of the Budweiser King of the Lanes 2023 series and carve his slot in the year end grand finals. Elliott qualified in second place during the four games qualifier held earlier in the day on a 34’ lane oil pattern that created havoc for many bowlers, averaging 211 pins per game. He went on to eliminate 3rd seed Gregory Borja in the semi-final match with a barrage of strikes for a 247 game and a 77-pin victory. In the monthly finals, he stepped up in the final stanza with a strike to keep 7th seed RJ Santos at bay and deny him the title with a 222-204 tally. Santos qualified for the monthly finals by defecating 6th seed Matt Cruz 249-170 in the first elimination round. He struck out in the quarter finals to edge 5th seed Ricky Duenas 206-203 before smashing the pins in the semi-final round against top seed Ray San Nicolas 231-186.
San Nicolas held the field at bay taking pole position with a 218 average followed by Elliott, Borja, Jeremiah Camacho, Duenas, Cruz, Santos, Noah Taimanglo, Von Cabral and Corey Granillo who rounded out the top ten to qualify for the elimination rounds.
Erwin Aguilar took top honors in the Budweiser Prince of the Lanes division yielding a game high 221 in the finals to beat second seed Leody Ersando 238-155. Top seed Aguilar edged 7th seed Gomes Martinez in the semi-final using his five-pin handicap advantage to advance with a 154-150 set. Ersando ousted 4th seed Jazia Abasta in the other semi-final round 234-171.
The top ten qualifiers in the Prince division included Aguilar, Ersando, Jaceline Espiritu, Abasta, Arlene Reyes, Isaiah Macias, Gomes Martinez, Neal Flores, Enrique Corcino and Zayne Zamora who edged out Ray Macias through a one ball tie breaker.
The Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes 2023 series continues on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 1:15 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
