Sawada Ignites with Dominant Performance in IIAAG Middle School League

Thursday, April 30, 2026 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

L-R: 2nd place Nathan Caasi (AMS Dragons), 1st place Lyo Sawada (SACS Raiders), 3rd place Dylan Cruz (SACS Raiders)

Week 3 of the 2026 IIAAG Middle School Bowling League delivered its most electrifying singles showdown yet, headlined by a scorching performance from SACS Raiders standout Lyo Sawada, who lit up Central Lanes with a commanding display of precision and power. Sawada fired games of 224 and 245, storming to the top of the leaderboard with a 469 series that left the field chasing from behind. His breakout performance dethroned Week 1 leader Nathan Caasi of the AMS Dragons, who remained steady with games of 212 and 204 to secure a strong second-place finish.

The Raiders weren’t done making noise. The trio following Sawada kept the momentum rolling, stacking the standings with impressive finishes. Dylan Cruz opened with a fiery 199 on his way to a 362 series and third place. Xavier Quinata stayed consistent to claim fourth with a 357 set, while Aryan Dewan rounded out the top five at 342, completing a dominant showing for the squad.

Rounding out the boys’ top ten were SIFA Manta Rays’ John Tumamak, Dragons’ duo Jaden Beresford and Louie Jin Chapman, followed by SJS Knights’ Tanish Dewan and Manta Ray’s Silis Brown, each contributing to one of the most competitive weeks of the season.

L-R: 1st place Aubreale Charfauros (SIFA Manta Rays), 2nd place Sophia Takahashi (SACS Raiders)

In the girls division, SIFA Manta Rays’ Aubreale Charfauros bounced back in a big way. After a slow start, Charfauros surged to the top with a composed and confident performance that reclaimed her place among the league’s elite. Raiders’ Sophia Takahashi finished just three marks behind in second, while SJS Knights’ Paloma Cook secured third place, only six pins back in a tightly contested race.

Raiders’ Haley Pinaula narrowly missed the podium by nine pins, settling into fourth as she held off a late push from McCool Seahawks’ Kaytlyn Huffman, who closed out the top five. The remainder of the top ten featured Knights bowlers Yilin Kim and Contessa Cook in sixth and seventh, Manta Rays’ Tasilyn Reyes in eighth, DCS Veritas’ Aria Jae Domingo in ninth, and teammate Juliana Austria in tenth.

With rising stars heating up and standings tightening across both divisions, the league is building toward an exciting midseason stretch.

Competition resumes on Monday, May 4, 2026, with the always thrilling Team Baker’s Format, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Central Lanes Bowling Center.
