Raiders, Knights crowned MS Team Bowling Champs

Tuesday, May 13, 2026 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam

The 2026 IIAAG Middle School Bowling League delivered a blockbuster finish on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, as the SACS Raiders and SJS Knights rose above the chaos, pressure, and clutch moments to claim the All‑Island Team Championships at Central Lanes Bowling Center. The boys division saw the top‑seeded SACS Raiders complete a dramatic three‑peat, but not without surviving several close calls. Their semifinal match against the 4th‑seed MEMS Seahawks began with turbulence, as the Seahawks jumped ahead by as many as 20 pins. The Raiders clawed back late, capitalizing on missed frames to steal Game 1, 158–145, before cruising through Game 2 to advance. On the other side of the bracket, the AMS Dragons overpowered the SIFA Manta Rays in a decisive 2–0 sweep, winning by 40 and 30 pins to set up a high‑stakes championship showdown.

The championship match between the Raiders and Dragons delivered every ounce of drama fans hoped for. In Game 1, the Dragons came out firing, building a 20‑pin lead behind early strikes from Jaiden Beresford, Nathan Caasi, Louie Jin Chapman, and James Powers. But the defending champions refused to fold. The Raiders — Xavier Quinata, Lyo Sawada, Dylan Cruz, and Aryan Dewan — matched the Dragons’ turkey and surged late. A costly misfire by the Dragons in the foundation frame opened the door, and Sawada’s clutch double sealed a 177–145 comeback win. Game 2 was even more intense, with the Dragons holding a one‑pin lead heading into the final frame. Sawada struck to keep SACS alive, while Caasi answered with a pocket shot that left a stubborn 10‑pin. Sawada’s ball change nearly closed the game, but another 10‑pin stood tall, giving him a 160 game and leaving the match in Caasi’s hands. The Singles Champion needed a mark to force an extra‑ball finale, but his shot drifted right and failed to turn, leaving three pins standing and handing the Raiders a heart‑stopping one‑pin victory — and their third straight title. The Manta Rays edged the Seahawks for third place after splitting the first two games and winning in an extra‑ball roll‑off.

The girls division delivered its own fireworks, beginning with a major upset as the 3rd‑seed SACS Raiders stunned the 2nd‑seed SIFA Manta Rays in a razor‑thin semifinal. The Raiders took Game 1 by four pins, but the Manta Rays — led by three‑peat Singles Champion Aubreale Charfauros — stormed back to win Game 2 and force a one‑ball roll‑off. Charfauros set the bar with six pins, but Isabella Palomo answered with the seven pins she needed to send the Raiders to the championship match. In the other semifinal, the SJS Knights dominated the DCS Veritas in a comfortable 2–0 sweep. The championship match saw the Knights — Paloma Cook, Green Park, Chlorie Lee, and Roxanne Reed — assert control from the first frame, sweeping the Raiders 2–0 to secure back‑to‑back titles. The Raiders finished second, while the Manta Rays rounded out the podium in third.
