Strong Guam Performances in Taiwan

TAIPEI, TAIWAN — Guam’s rising bowling talent made a strong impression on the regional stage as a contingent of ten representatives traveled to Taiwan from May 4–10 for the 2026 Formosa International Championships. The delegation featured a mix of National Team athletes, youth standouts, and seasoned officials, all proudly representing the Guam Bowling Congress. The tournament showcased the island’s growing depth in the sport, highlighted by standout performances from National Team members Noah Taimanglo and Jeremiah Camacho, both of whom advanced deep into the competition.

After a slow opening day, 23‑year‑old Noah Taimanglo delivered one of the tournament’s most electrifying moments—a perfect 300 game during Day 2 of qualifying. The flawless performance propelled him up the leaderboard and secured his place in the second round with an impressive 217 average across the qualifying block. Taimanglo’s achievement drew praise from tournament officials and fellow competitors, marking one of the strongest international outings of his young career.

National Team anchor Jeremiah Camacho demonstrated consistency and competitive maturity throughout the event. Camacho posted a high game of 278 and averaged 212 over 15 games to advance out of the main qualifying rounds. He elevated his performance even further in the final qualifying stage, averaging a commanding 242 over eight games to earn a coveted spot in the televised finals. Camacho reached the semi‑finals before finishing 4th overall, falling to Japan’s Hiroki Tachibana in a tightly contested match.

Guam also found success in the Graded Division (200 average and below), where two of the island’s developing athletes advanced to the Top 24 finals. Joonsung Park qualified in 5th place with a strong 219 average, showcasing consistency across all three days. Ezekiel Gatan, 17, delivered a clutch performance in the “desperado” one‑game roll‑off, firing a 223 to claim the final qualifying spot. In the finals, Gatan finished 11th, while Park placed 18th, both earning valuable international experience. Gatan noted that the event strengthened his confidence as he prepares for future overseas competitions.

Guam Bowling sent a ten‑member delegation to Taiwan, led by Head of Delegation Joey Miranda III. The group included: Player/Coach: Jay Leon Guerrero, assisted by Robert Baker. Athletes included: Jeremiah Camacho, Dominic Cruz, Christof Pineda, Joonsung Park, Daniel Lee, Noah Taimanglo, and Naiyah Taimanglo.
