Tuesday, May 23, 2017 – CORONADO LANES, Starmall, Quezon City, Philippines

Philippine Int Open 2017

Guam’s stint in the 2017 Philippine International Open ended on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 with Jay Leon Guerrero finishing 12th overall in the Masters Event.  Leon Guerrero was joined by Cesar Villanueva, Zayne Zamora and RJ Santos at the Coronado Lanes, Starmall Bowling Center.  Leon Guerrero qualified for the Men’s Open Round 2 finals after finishing in fourth place in Round 1 held the day before.  Leon Guerrero’s eight game series of 1655 was thirty pins out from pole position in a closely contested low scoring event.  Villanueva and Zamora also qualified for Round 1 with Villanueva finishing in 26th place on 1448 pins while Zamora dropped 1219 for 35th.

In Round 2, Leon Guerrero delivered steady games from the first to sixth game as he occupied the second spot with two games remaining.  Unfortunately, misfortune struck during the last two games which changed the complexion of his game and dropped him from the top three stepladder finals.

With his 12th place finish, Leon Guerrero moves up to the 12th position in the 2017 Asian Ranking as published in the Asian Bowling Federation website.  The points include events from the H.H. Emir Cup, ABF Tour Qatar leg, 43rd Thailand Open, ABF Tour Thailand and 2017 Philippine Open.
