Sunday, August 5, 2018 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
2nd seed Frank Manibusan Jr. claimed his first youth bowling title of the year edging top seed Noah Taimanglo in the monthly finals 218-215. Manibusan took an early lead over Taimanglo, but a four bagger by Taimanglo mid game made up the deficit. Taimanglo was given an opportunity to take over the lead after a 4-6-7-10 leave by Manibusan in the ninth frame opened the door. However, Taimanglo’s attempt at the pin ten on the same frame was short of its target, thus placing him three pins shy of Manibusan’s score. With one frame remaining, Manibusan was able to shut out Taimanglo as both bowlers closed out the match with turkeys.
Manibusan connected four strikes in a row to overcome the 64-pin handicap advantage by Eyan Duenas to move into the monthly finals against Taimanglo. Manibusan was relentless in striking his way to the finals and in his pursuit to not succumb to his eight-year-old foe.
4th seed Duenas opened the consolation match with a spare and strike then relied on his handicap advantage to oust 3rd seed Jeremiah Camacho 115+64 to 153.
Noah Taimanglo topped the qualifying round held earlier in the day with a four-game series of 871. Manibusan finished in second place with an 847-total followed by Camacho, Eyan Duenas, Evan Duenas, Josiah Lanuza, Jordan Hattori, Cameron Santos, Naiyah Taimanglo and Alexandra Loyola who rounded off the top ten.
The next Guam Youth Bowler of the month will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
