Duenas, Santos nabs second King and Prince monthly titles

Sunday, November 21, 2021 – Central Lanes Bowling Center, Tamuning, Guam

Ricky Duenas and Cameron Santos punched their second monthly title of the year by winning their respective divisions during the Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.

Duenas stayed focused during his monthly King of the Lanes final match against southpaw RJ Santos as he was able to deliver a steady game ball strike in the tenth to claim the title, 212-196.  5th ranked Duenas earned his trip to the winner’s circle by knocking out 10th seed Manny Tagle in round 1 with a contentious match as he doubled in the final stanza to slip past Tagle 244-238.  Duenas continued his striking prowess in round 2 as he eliminated 6th seed Mike Sanchez 246-198.  In the semi-final round, Duenas squeaked by top seed Brian Manibusan after sparing a pin ten in the tenth frame for a 224 to 215 decision which catapulted him to the monthly finals against 4th seed RJ Santos.

Santos’ route began with a ten-bagger for a 289-200 set against 8th seed Cesar Villanueva.  He then dismissed 3rd seed Jeremiah Camacho in round 2, as well as 2nd seed Aaron Elliott in the semi-final match.

In the Prince division, top seed Cam Santos was able to find the pocket in the waning end of the semi-final and final matches to win his second title of the year.  Santos was pitted against 10th seed Rolly Hernandez where he threw a turkey in the 7th, 8th, and 9th frames to edge the lower seed by two pins and punched his entry to the finals.  3rd seed Aron Hernandez overcame a two-pin handicap disadvantage and edged 2nd seed Ryan Flores in the semi-finals by a single stick as Flores’ fill ball came up heavy on the headpin falling short of the count needed to advance.

It was all Hernandez in the early frames of the final match as he took a 32-pin lead midway through the game.  However, Santos was able to find his strike range and connected for a four-bagger which allowed him back into the match and eventually pulled off a ten-pin margin of victory.

With the year coming to a close, the grand finals stage has been set for the top sixteen bowlers in each division, scheduled for Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.  The King of the Lanes Grand finalists include:  Aaron Elliott, Ricky Duenas, Jay Leon Guerrero, Darrell Scott, Cesar Villanueva, Jeremiah Camacho, Evan Duenas, Gregory Borja, Charlie Catbagan, RJ Santos, Brian Manibusan, Manny Tagle, Maria Wood, Ray Cruz, Mike Sanchez and Brandon Manibusan.  The Prince of the Lanes Grand finals will be contested by:  Cameron Santos, Claricelle Lanuza, Gomez Martinez, Aron Hernandez, Rolly Hernandez, Corey Granillo, Kaimana Bamba, Nick Gutierrez, Julius Checa, Arnold Hernandez, Ryan Flores, Rudy Palaganas, Jeremy Leal, Lisa Duenas, Ken Duenas and Corey Roberto.
